An unexpectedly hard shot by Agustin Barrantes in the 10th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Rodrigo Lobo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Rodrigo Lobo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. İbrahim Efe Ergener kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. 32 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Miguel Volio came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ernesto Monge made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 34th minute of play. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Miguel Volio in the 36th minute of the match. The supporters of Ecuador booed when CS La Libertad was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luis Marin didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 42nd minute, Agustin Barrantes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The CS La Libertad fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ernesto Monge saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Daniel Zorita came free with the goalkeeper in the 56th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Ernesto Monge could save by the left post. In the 62nd minute, Gerardo Millot left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The CS La Libertad fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Agustin Barrantes in the 70th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. CS La Libertad's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Mainor Coronado in the 71st minute. The corner ended in Mainor Coronado almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ecuador's Julio Vera did a great save. In the 72nd match minute, CS La Libertad was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tomasz Komanski to maneuver through the defense. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Ernesto Monge tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gerardo Millot in the 84th minute of the match. The coaching staff of Ecuador protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Antonio Arias had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 91st minute of the game. One of Ecuador:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of CS La Libertad:s goal. In the 93rd minute there was a penalty for CS La Libertad. Agustin Barrantes stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Julio Vera. 3-0. CS La Libertad's Rodrigo Lobo got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the referee blew the final whistle, CS La Libertad could leave the field as winners, despite Ecuador having more of the ball for most of the match.
