Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Baldomero Shantala tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Juventud Antoniana's Lobo Lobo got a free kick in the 15th minute. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Juventud Antoniana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Remigio Bela didn't get a good kick on the ball. Baldomero Shantala made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luis Andino in the 29th minute of play. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Felix Montes fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Baldomero Shantala quite easily take care of the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The audience was convinced that Cristian Sancho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Baldomero Shantala was relentless in the 67th minute of the game. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Juventud Antoniana.
