Patricio Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Hendrik-Jan Brugmans tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dino Siqueira kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. In the 47th minute of the match Joshua Secada sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Hendrik-Jan Brugmans skillfully saved the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gabirel Jesus stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After having played for 52 minutes, Gabirel Jesus managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. AÇAÍ SA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gabirel Jesus was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gabirel Jesus fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gabirel Jesus in the 63rd minute of the match. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aquiles Papo in the 66th minute of play. With a little luck, AÇAÍ SA's Hendrik-Jan Brugmans got control of the ball when Tomas Illescas tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aquiles Papo in the 70th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tomas Illescas was slow to take the kick. During this time Venezuela's players had a chance to rest. For all the effort they put into the match, the Venezuela players left disappointed.
