Guillermo Mariano made in the 21st minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by ATHLETICO PRaiano's José Paulo Almeida. Patricio Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sílvio Pires having to interfere. In the 25th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alex Chicote to maneuver through the defense. Alex Chicote made in the 28th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Salvador Gisbert however managed to control. Sílvio Pires made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 33rd minute of play. After 35 minutes, Tomas Illescas made it 0-3 with a short kick to the right side. ATHLETICO PRaiano's Sílvio Pires tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 38th minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sílvio Pires saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
