An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 19th minute of play forced Florida United's goalkeeper Gabriel Ibar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 20 minutes Florida United's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Joel Gaona who took care of the corner kick. With a little luck, Florida United's Gabriel Ibar got control of the ball when Lautaro Mancebo tried to sneak it across the goal line. With 32 minutes on the clock, Fermin Afonso commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. After 33 played minutes, Mexico's Joel Gaona shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Gabriel Ibar came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Mexico reached it. Florida United's defense didn't have a chance, in the 38th minute, when Facundo Cadaval scored to the left of an out of position Gabriel Ibar, making the score, 2-0. The supporters of Mexico booed when Florida United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ruperto Amato didn't get a good kick on the ball. Florida United's Gabriel Ibar proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 42nd minute of the match, managed to save Florida United from getting a goal against them. After 44 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Facundo Cadaval. In the 45th minute of the match Ruperto Amato shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dante Lacasa showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Gabriel Ibar didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alberto Tafalla went, in the 52nd minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. With a little luck, Mexico's Dante Lacasa got control of the ball when Natalio Heriberto tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 66th minute, Luca Zorita left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Mexico fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. Gabriel Ibar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lautaro Mancebo in the 72nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nuralp Eracar in the 74th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 75 minutes into the match, Alberto Tafalla notched a goal, 5-0, to the right of Florida United's Gabriel Ibar. Gabriel Ibar was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. There was no doubt that Mexico were the better team. Mexico's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
