IFK Stockholm's Nils Gullesson managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Hugo Ferrant in the 33 minute of the game. Osvaldo Otsoko sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dries Ramps took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eliseo Noboa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Lautaro Puig had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Adrian Wallgren might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benito Sanz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Adrian Wallgren ran back to his position shaking his head. 47 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Osvaldo Otsoko. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Axel Tasis made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adrian Wallgren in the 53rd minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of IFK Stockholm booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juan Rubio didn't get a good kick on the ball.
