Fabiano Trabucco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alan Moruga's late challenge caught a Caleufú's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fabiano Trabucco in the 20th minute of the match. 26 minutes into the match, Caleufú's goal looked a bit too open when Eliseo Noboa came free, but Alejo Urtsin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Abel Carballo didn't get a good kick on the ball. 4-0 became the score in the 48th minute when Fabiano Trabucco elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-0 at half-time.

In the 56th minute, Gonzalo Tartalo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benito Sanz was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-0. In the 59th match minute, Caleufú was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Norberto Manex to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when Caleufú was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Norberto Manex didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Axel Tasis in the 78th minute of play forced Caleufú's goalkeeper Alejo Urtsin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Patricio Rico in the 90th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fabiano Trabucco in the 93rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benito Sanz saved Costa Rica from getting behind. Gonzalo Tartalo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Caleufú walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
