The audience was convinced that Mariano Lacasa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rodriguinho Sousa was relentless in the 34th minute of the game. In the 39thth minute of the game Mariano Lacasa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but ATHLETICO PRaiano's Rodriguinho Sousa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Deilmison van Basten to make the kick off. Jose Manzanedo got a throw-in 59 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Orlando Casaus. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mariano Lacasa in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rodriguinho Sousa saved ATHLETICO PRaiano from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alan Tamayo in the 66th minute of play forced ATHLETICO PRaiano's goalkeeper Rodriguinho Sousa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 67th minute Chile were awarded a corner. Mariano Lacasa went to the cornerflag to take it. Thiago Pliego made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Deilmison van Basten in the 92nd minute of play. Deilmison van Basten might have been able to make a better finish in the 95th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Thiago Pliego. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Deilmison van Basten ran back to his position shaking his head. Thiago Pliego made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Deilmison van Basten in the 95th minute of play. Chile were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
