C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. 10 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Murilo Prestes came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 16 minutes into the match, Murilo Prestes dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Julio Vera, 1-1. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Ryszard Iwanowski sent off a good shot on target. Caco Azevedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 27th minute of the match. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Murilo Prestes in the 33rd minute of play. After 42 minutes, Felix Montenegro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ecuador and the SORRISO E. C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. Felix Montenegro kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. In the 43rd minute, Cléber da Costa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

In the 50th minute, Ryszard Iwanowski made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Luis Andino charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. A very good chance for a goal. SORRISO E. C.'s Caco Azevedo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 66th minute of the match, managed to save SORRISO E. C. from getting a goal against them. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Murilo Prestes in the 67th minute of the match. In the 69th minute, Felix Montenegro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. SORRISO E. C.'s Murilo Prestes got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, SORRISO E. C.'s Caco Azevedo got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Antonio Arias hit a great ball. Through an outstanding action, after 85 minutes, Caco Azevedo successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Murilo Prestes in the 92nd minute of the match. A nice corner shot did that Felix Montes got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Caco Azevedo quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save.
