After 3 played minutes Fc Benefica got a freekick which was hit by Humberto Jonge. After some fancy dribbling in the 4th minute, Cassius Byrne managed to get in a good position for a shot. USA's supporters rose to their feet, but Cassius Byrne was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mitchel Dijkstra breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Monty Rogers in the 10th minute of play forced Fc Benefica's goalkeeper Mitchel Dijkstra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Monty Rogers could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Mitchel Dijkstra made a huge save. Mitchel Dijkstra made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cassius Byrne in the 16th minute. Fc Benefica's Mitchel Dijkstra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Monty Rogers in the 20th minute of play. Edward Mcdonald's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mitchel Dijkstra read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. Fc Benefica's Mitchel Dijkstra proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save Fc Benefica from getting a goal against them. Leandro Soares blasted a shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Marco Day having to make a save. 38 minutes into the match, USA's goal looked a bit too open when Leandro Soares came free, but Marco Day reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mitchel Dijkstra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Monty Rogers in the 42nd minute of play. USA's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Cassius Byrne in the 43rd minute. USA's Cassius Byrne was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Mitchel Dijkstra in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 44th minute, Leandro Soares made a precise shot to the right of Marco Day. USA's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Cassius Byrne made the kick off in the second half. Mitchel Dijkstra stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cassius Byrne's shot from short distance in the 52nd minute. USA were awarded a corner in the 53th minute after Fc Benefica's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Cassius Byrne took the corner. Leandro Soares blasted a shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Marco Day having to make a save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Leandro Soares got free with Marco Day in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Marco Day was out of position in the 59 minute of play, and Leandro Soares capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Leandro Soares really showed his touch with that goal: 0-2. 62 minutes into the match, Fc Benefica's goal looked a bit too open when Monty Rogers came free, but Mitchel Dijkstra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 63rd minute Cassius Byrne shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mitchel Dijkstra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Monty Rogers in the 64th minute of play forced Fc Benefica's goalkeeper Mitchel Dijkstra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mitchel Dijkstra was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. USA's Sam Campbell got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 91st minute, Sam Campbell left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The USA fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. Despite being the better team, USA failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
