Mexico's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joel Gaona was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 7th minute, Edmundo Cañas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Algarrobo's supporters rose to their feet, but Edmundo Cañas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dante Lacasa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 11 minutes, Edmundo Cañas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Everardo Ado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Gaona in the 13th minute of the match. After 28 minutes Algarrobo's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Joel Gaona who took care of the corner kick. Edmundo Cañas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 35th minute of the match, but Dante Lacasa made a huge save. 38 minutes into the match, Algarrobo's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Gaona came free, but Everardo Ado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 39th minute of the match Mexico got a corner. Algarrobo's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Joel Gaona ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Luca Zorita almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Algarrobo's Everardo Ado did a great save. Everardo Ado didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Luca Zorita went, in the 39th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. After a defensive mix-up in Algarrobo's zone, Joel Gaona stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Everardo Ado came out of the goal and Joel Gaona tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Everardo Ado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. After the first half Mexico were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
When Lautaro Mancebo came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lautaro Mancebo couldn't finish the play. Joel Gaona kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. When Edmundo Cañas came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Algarrobo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edmundo Cañas couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Mexico's Leonardo Leoz got a free kick in the 64th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edmundo Cañas in the 70th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Algarrobo's Everardo Ado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Gaona in the 71st minute of play. If Joel Gaona had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Algarrobo's Wilfredo Marchetti was substituted for Edmundo Cañas. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Diego Armando Lamb in the 80th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dante Lacasa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Everardo Ado made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 83rd minute. 84 minutes had been played when some careless play by Algarrobo's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Joel Gaona was slow to take the kick. During this time Mexico's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Mexico's Luca Rouco to a score. 0-2 in the 84th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dani Alves during the 93rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Algarrobo's Dani Alves got a free kick in the 93rd minute. Mexico's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
