With an extended leg and a bit of luck Carlos Quentin prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 17 minutes, Julian Murillo made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Pincha FC's Carlos Quentin tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. When the match had gone on for 22 minutes, Agustin Silvino put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Rolando Noboa. Marcial Roldanillo scored 1-3 in the 34th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rolando Noboa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 2-3 lead.

When Carlos-Salvador Bilardo fell near the penalty area in the 53rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pincha FC's protests and gave Carlos-Salvador Bilardo a yellow card for diving instead. Rolando Noboa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marcial Roldanillo in the 59th minute. 75 minutes into the match, Pincha FC's goal looked a bit too open when Luz Tejedor came free, but Carlos Quentin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Peru booed when Pincha FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Victorio Hondo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pincha FC made a substitution. Brian Nuñez replaced Everardo Garaile. After 78 played minutes Pincha FC got a freekick which was hit by Victorio Hondo. Carlos Quentin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Peru made a substitution. It was Eliseo Mina who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Milagros Fraga almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Pincha FC's Carlos Quentin did a great save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marcial Roldanillo in the 86th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rolando Noboa saved Peru from getting behind. 88 minutes into the match, Rafael Gallo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Carlos Quentin. Pincha FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rafael Gallo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-3. When Jorge Carrascal came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Pincha FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jorge Carrascal couldn't finish the play. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
