Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. In the 16th minute Ioan Cocârlă shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ruben Casado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edgard Batista in the 26th minute of play. 29 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Ruben Casado came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Felix Montenegro struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Alfredinho Carneiro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. The corner led Colognese FC's Edgard Batista to a score. 2-1 in the 46th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Luis Andino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. The Colognese FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. Michael Telin charged in rather forcefully in the 70th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Michael Telin the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Colognese FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Michael Telin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Edgard Batista's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 73rd minute of play. In the 82nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 87 minutes into the match, Colognese FC's goalkeeper Alfredinho Carneiro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. 93 minutes into the match, Colognese FC's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Alfredinho Carneiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Many of Ecuador's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but Colognese FC were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
