Gualter Moutinho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abraham Alguacil, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. 17 minutes into the match, Panama's goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ademar Bulhosa. After having played for 22 minutes, Ademar Bulhosa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. União Desportiva Airão's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ademar Bulhosa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 28th minute, Yuan Le Xun hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Abraham Alguacil might have been able to make a better finish in the 28th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gualter Moutinho. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Abraham Alguacil ran back to his position shaking his head. After 32 minutes of play, União Desportiva Airão's Ademar Bulhosa made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Marcos Cotilla was left in no man's land by his defense there! Leonardo Freitas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Nivaldo Lameirinhas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 44th minute Tomas Berganza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gualter Moutinho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Paulo Maia to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Berganza in the 51st minute of play forced União Desportiva Airão's goalkeeper Gualter Moutinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Panama booed when União Desportiva Airão was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Yuan Le Xun didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 56th minute, Tomas Berganza reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Gualter Moutinho. The goal made the score 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nivaldo Lameirinhas in the 64th minute of play forced Panama's goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, União Desportiva Airão's Gualter Moutinho got control of the ball when Isidoro Sarmiento tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 71st match minute, União Desportiva Airão was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leonardo Freitas to maneuver through the defense. With his leg Gualter Moutinho managed to avoid a goal in the 76thth minute, when Panama's Tomas Berganza fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 80 minutes into the match, Tomas Berganza dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Gualter Moutinho, 1-2. Nivaldo Lameirinhas's late challenge caught a Panama's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nivaldo Lameirinhas helped the player get up and apologised. In the 83rd match minute, União Desportiva Airão was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nivaldo Lameirinhas to maneuver through the defense. 84 minutes into the game, Panama's Tomas Berganza nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gualter Moutinho made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. In the last second Gualter Moutinho throw himself and got hold of the ball when Tomas Berganza in the 90thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. Abraham Alguacil struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Gualter Moutinho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Panama. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Panama eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
