Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Leonides Galtero read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 5th minute of play. 6 minutes had been played when some careless play by Loco Cabezon's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. Agustín Saelices made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that Loco Cabezon's Leonides Galtero managed to reach the ball for a save. With an all-out effort, Loco Cabezon's Julio Vera threw himself towards the right post 13 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Modesto Boni, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 15 played minutes Loco Cabezon got a freekick which was hit by Enrique Cristofor. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Leonides Galtero breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 18th minute, Rogelio Abajas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 19th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leonides Galtero saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Enrique Cristofor's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Julio Vera firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 21st match minute, Loco Cabezon was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rodolfo Ieltxu to maneuver through the defense. Luis Andino struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Leonides Galtero didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. In the 26th match minute, Loco Cabezon was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anastasio Mendebal to maneuver through the defense. Leonides Galtero made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 27th minute of play. Cesar Mercurio kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. In the 40th match minute, Loco Cabezon was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jose Eleder to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 44th minute of play forced Loco Cabezon's goalkeeper Leonides Galtero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Leonides Galtero showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. In the 48th minute, Felix Montenegro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rogelio Abajas in the 48th minute of the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Enrique Cristofor to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Esteve Perico came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rogelio Abajas in the 55th minute of play. Loco Cabezon's Rodolfo Ieltxu has a good shot, but didn't show it this time. The shot went over the crossbar in the 57th minute. 59 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Leonides Galtero was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With a little luck, Loco Cabezon's Leonides Galtero got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Daniel Zorita kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Leonides Galtero. That made the score 2-2 in the 62 minute of play. Leonides Galtero made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 68th minute of the match, but Leonides Galtero made a huge save. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rogelio Abajas in the 69th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 71st minute of play forced Loco Cabezon's goalkeeper Leonides Galtero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A hard shot 77 in the game by Daniel Zorita from a close distance when the talented Leonides Galtero managed to make a qualified save. Loco Cabezon's players were relieved. After a defensive mix-up in Loco Cabezon's zone, Felix Montenegro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leonides Galtero came out of the goal and Felix Montenegro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some careless play in the Loco Cabezon defense, Daniel Zorita kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Leonides Galtero. The Loco Cabezon fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Leonides Galtero should have stopped the shot. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Enrique Cristofor in the 90th minute of play. The Ecuador players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
