After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Felix Montes got a free kick in the 36th minute. In the 43rd minute, Rio de la Plata 91218 3-1's Javier Ferreyra dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-2. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Luciano Sesuldo made the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Luis Andino managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Luis Andino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Victoriano Dunixi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 69 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Rio de la Plata 91218 3-1 players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
