After a rather tough play, Lechia Gdańsk's Szymon Kociniewski got a free kick in the 17th minute. In the 20th match minute, Bolivia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Francisco Gallo to maneuver through the defense. Bolivia's Camilo Freixa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Teofil Hodas in the 21st minute of play. During the 22nd minute of the match Szymon Kociniewski completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Szymon Kociniewski a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Szymon Kociniewski hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Florian Gondek could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Camilo Freixa made a huge save. Jurand Bycofski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfonso de la Cruz in the 37th minute of play. Alfonso de la Cruz struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Jurand Bycofski didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bolivia. Jurand Bycofski didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alfredo Ferrant went, in the 41st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

54 minutes into the match, Lechia Gdańsk's goalkeeper Jurand Bycofski had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alfonso de la Cruz. When Tanek Slazak fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lechia Gdańsk's protests and gave Tanek Slazak a yellow card for diving instead. Tanek Slazak hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredo Ferrant in the 70th minute of play forced Lechia Gdańsk's goalkeeper Jurand Bycofski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 86 minutes, Florian Gondek managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lechia Gdańsk's supporters crossed their fingers, but Florian Gondek was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Lechia Gdańsk's zone, Alfredo Ferrant stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jurand Bycofski came out of the goal and Alfredo Ferrant tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
