In the 19thth minute of the game Felix Montenegro who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Yala's Zeledon Curcio was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Zeledon Curcio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 24th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 33rd minute of play forced Yala's goalkeeper Zeledon Curcio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cristian Sancho kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. In the 38th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zeledon Curcio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 39th minute after Yala's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Agustín Saelices fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Zeledon Curcio quite easily take care of the ball. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Freddy Valentine, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Edwin Söderberg during the 46th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
