The audience thought a goal was coming when Niki Bundev got free with Marcos Cotilla in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Edwin Söderberg charged in rather forcefully in the 13th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Edwin Söderberg the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 15 minutes into the game, Alex Cambeiro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Panama's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Yala the free kick. A collision led to Panama getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Abraham Alguacil's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Zeledon Curcio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 17th minute of play. Panama's Marcos Cotilla proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save Panama from getting a goal against them. Marcos Cotilla was out of position in the 24 minute of play, and Laurids Grejsen capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Laurids Grejsen really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. After a rather tough play, Yala's Freddy Valentine got a free kick in the 28th minute. In the 29th minute Tomas Berganza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zeledon Curcio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 30 minutes had been played when some careless play by Yala's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Abraham Alguacil was slow to take the kick. During this time Panama's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Panama's Abraham Alguacil to fire away a dangerous shot which Zeledon Curcio despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After 37 minutes of play, Yala's Niki Bundev made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Marcos Cotilla was left in no man's land by his defense there! A collision led to Panama getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Miguel Miralles hit a great ball. Zeledon Curcio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Berganza in the 44th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

Yala's Zeledon Curcio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Berganza in the 80th minute of play. After 81 minutes of play, Yala's Alberto Jaunti made it 4-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Marcos Cotilla was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a rather tough play, Yala's Gao Cheng Fei got a free kick in the 93rd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Tomas Berganza managed to get in a good position for a shot. Panama's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomas Berganza was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Zeledon Curcio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 96th minute, Niki Bundev hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the referee blew the final whistle, Yala could leave the field as winners, despite Panama having more of the ball for most of the match.
