Tito Chayo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 7th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Tito Chayo in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 9th minute, Sergio Dantae hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 11th minute Hernan Lehen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Casimiro Cordarell got free with Julio Vera in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 16 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tito Chayo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After having played for 20 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nippur de Lagash 2's Sixto Ariando quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Primitivo Andino, made in the 24th minute of the game. Tito Chayo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 25th minute of play. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Primitivo Andino hit a great ball. When Nippur de Lagash 2's Casimiro Cordarell in the 30th minute got a chance for a shot 30th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Tito Chayo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cristian Sancho scored 0-1 in the 33rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Tito Chayo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Reynaldo De Mitri hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. Hernan Lehen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 45th minute of play forced Nippur de Lagash 2's goalkeeper Tito Chayo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 47th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tito Chayo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. Israel Oliviero hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. In the 54th minute, Primitivo Andino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A throw-in in the 58th minute of the game was made by Primitivo Andino with Juan Sebastián Puig as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Nippur de Lagash 2's Tito Chayo got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. Agustín Saelices received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Tito Chayo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nippur de Lagash 2's Tobias Uxio was substituted for Sixto Ariando. Daniel Zorita might have been able to make a better finish in the 77th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tito Chayo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Daniel Zorita ran back to his position shaking his head. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hernan Lehen in the 79th minute of the match. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Nippur de Lagash 2 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Casimiro Cordarell didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Felix Montes during the 85th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 85th minute of the game. One of Ecuador:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Nippur de Lagash 2:s goal. Daniel Zorita's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Tito Chayo firmly grabbed it by the left post. Primitivo Andino's late challenge caught a Nippur de Lagash 2's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Primitivo Andino helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Primitivo Andino hit a great ball. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Casimiro Cordarell in the 90th minute of play. In the 91st minute, Tobias Uxio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Casimiro Cordarell, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. Hernan Lehen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Nippur de Lagash 2.
