The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 7th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 8th minute, Primitivo Andino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Barcellos Mineiro FC's Patricio Ugutz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 17th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Agustín Saelices in the 19th minute of play forced Barcellos Mineiro FC's goalkeeper Patricio Ugutz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 21 minutes into the match, Barcellos Mineiro FC's Dale Dolar sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 22 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Amílton Loyola was slow to take the kick. During this time Barcellos Mineiro FC's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Dale Dolar almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ecuador's Julio Vera did a great save. Dale Dolar's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 44th minute of play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Barcellos Mineiro FC booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luis Andino didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Primitivo Andino got a free kick in the 54th minute. Primitivo Andino made in the 66th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Felix Montenegro however managed to control. In the 69th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A throw-in in the 71st minute of the game was made by Primitivo Andino with Agustín Saelices as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. 73 minutes into the match, Barcellos Mineiro FC's Dale Dolar sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dale Dolar in the 75th minute of the match. Barcellos Mineiro FC made a substitution. Michael Meertens hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. In the 89th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Primitivo Andino to maneuver through the defense. After 93 minutes of play, Barcellos Mineiro FC's Jorge Carrascal made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! When the referee blew the final whistle, Barcellos Mineiro FC could leave the field as winners, despite Ecuador having more of the ball for most of the match.
