Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Julian Murillo got the match started through his kick off. In the 5th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wieslaw Panasewicz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 7 minutes Gimnasia y tiro's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Luz Tejedor who took care of the corner kick. Wieslaw Panasewicz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eliseo Mina, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dong Jian Yang in the 12th minute of play. In the 22nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Gimnasia y tiro's goalkeeper Wieslaw Panasewicz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Rolando Noboa made a fantastic save in the 24th minute, when Dong Jian Yang sent off a good shot on target. Dong Jian Yang received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Rolando Noboa came out and tried to block the shot, but Dong Jian Yang slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 24th minute. After 27 minutes of play, Peru's Luz Tejedor made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Wieslaw Panasewicz was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 31st minute of the match Peru got a corner. Gimnasia y tiro's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luz Tejedor ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Luz Tejedor almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Gimnasia y tiro's Wieslaw Panasewicz did a great save. Wieslaw Panasewicz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emmanuel Reyes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 32 minutes had been played when some careless play by Gimnasia y tiro's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Luz Tejedor was slow to take the kick. During this time Peru's players had a chance to rest. Eliseo Mina sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Gimnasia y tiro's Reynaldo Montrelle was substituted for Dong Jian Yang. Peru's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Reynaldo Montrelle was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. Wieslaw Panasewicz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rafael Gallo in the 88th minute. The throw-in from Emmanuel Reyes in the 90th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Gimnasia y tiro's Endre Szentes.
