LEON made a substitution. Teo Acevedo replaced Honorio Mergildo. 22 minutes into the game, Ruperto Asur cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Joaquin Gayoso was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a rather tough play, LEON's Ruperto Asur got a free kick in the 25th minute. When Francisco Seco came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Uruguay fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Francisco Seco couldn't finish the play. Joaquin Gayoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ruperto Asur in the 31st minute of play. Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ruperto Asur in the 34th minute of play. After a rather tough play, LEON's Teo Acevedo got a free kick in the 40th minute. After recieving a nice pass, Uruguay's Jaime Cazalla tried to score from far away in the 41st minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 43rd minute, Francisco Seco got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 46thth minute of the game Ruperto Asur who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

If Francisco Seco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 50th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The corner ended in Gervasio Sanson almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso did a great save. Silvestre Mikeldi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 69th minute of the match, but Joaquin Gayoso made a huge save. The audience was convinced that Maximiliano Escribano's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Esteban Musko was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game.
