After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Resul Erentürk stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Resul Erentürk tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 18 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Müfit Totuk, 2-0. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yunus Yamaner in the 21st minute of play. In the 21st minute, Yunus Yamaner made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Müfit Totuk made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Felix Montenegro sent off a good shot on target. In the 29th minute the ball was on its way in behind NiğdeBeşiktaş's goalkeeper Müfit Totuk, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Yunus Yamaner stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Müfit Totuk didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Daniel Zorita went, in the 53rd minute, to the upper right corner, 4-1 was the resulting score. Aytaç Bozoğlu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 58th minute Felix Montenegro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Müfit Totuk saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Müfit Totuk made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 63rd minute of play. 65 minutes had been played when some careless play by NiğdeBeşiktaş's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. Daniel Zorita made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that NiğdeBeşiktaş's Müfit Totuk managed to reach the ball for a save.
