Nilson Corrêa helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when Squadra Demarchi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nilson Corrêa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Axel Tasis shot from long distance in the 20th minute, but Oscar Saldanha was prepared and stopped the ball at the left post. After having played for 21 minutes, Paulinho Paraibano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Squadra Demarchi's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paulinho Paraibano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Oscar Saldanha was out of position in the 29 minute of play, and Eliseo Noboa capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Eliseo Noboa really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. A collision led to Squadra Demarchi getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Ciro Castro hit a great ball. Eliseo Noboa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oscar Saldanha having to interfere. 39 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Claudinho Pinho came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kléber Queirós, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. With a little luck, Squadra Demarchi's Oscar Saldanha got control of the ball when Lautaro Puig tried to sneak it across the goal line.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Axel Tasis stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 59th minute, Claudinho Pinho reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Benito Sanz. The goal made the score 1-4. Paulinho Paraibano could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 64th minute of the match, but Benito Sanz made a huge save. After a defensive mix-up in Costa Rica's zone, Claudinho Pinho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benito Sanz came out of the goal and Claudinho Pinho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Claudinho Pinho, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. After having played for 74 minutes, Lautaro Puig managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Costa Rica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lautaro Puig was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 77th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Abel Carballo to maneuver through the defense. In the 78th minute, Kléber Queirós got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 81 minutes into the game, Lautaro Puig cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-4. Oscar Saldanha was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Axel Tasis scored 3-4 in the 85th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Oscar Saldanha, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kléber Queirós got free with Benito Sanz in the 89th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee felt a red card was in order, 95 minutes into the game, when Abel Carballo put in a rough tackle. In the 95th minute, one of Costa Rica:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Costa Rica. The referee gave Squadra Demarchi a penalty, 97 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Paulinho Paraibano, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Costa Rica's Benito Sanz. 3-5. Squadra Demarchi's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
