Tomas Illescas might have been able to make a better finish in the 15th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mihnea Aldea. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tomas Illescas ran back to his position shaking his head. Dumitru Achiriloaies short, quick shot in the 18thth minute got Jonathan Ferrant to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Mihnea Aldea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Victor Homeag in the 23rd minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomas Illescas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 77th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patricio Costa to maneuver through the defense. 79 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Dumitru Achiriloaie came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 81st minute the ball was on its way in behind Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.
