Honduras's Lautaro Navarro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maurits Ruben in the 6th minute of play. When Honduras's Edmundo Espiga in the 9th minute got a chance for a shot 9th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye MVV Maastricht's goalie prevented a goal. In the 10th minute Sebastian Villa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dean Verbruggen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dean Verbruggen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edmundo Espiga in the 18th minute of the match. After having played for 23 minutes, Dave Otten managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. MVV Maastricht's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dave Otten was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of MVV Maastricht booed when Honduras was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Esteban Carvallo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lautaro Navarro made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Gilbert Fleur sent off a good shot on target. With a little luck, Honduras's Lautaro Navarro got control of the ball when Maarten Colen tried to sneak it across the goal line. 32 minutes into the match, Honduras's goal looked a bit too open when Maurits Ruben came free, but Lautaro Navarro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 35th match minute, Honduras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ivan Navarro to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Maurits Ruben got free with Lautaro Navarro in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maurits Ruben in the 37th minute of play forced Honduras's goalkeeper Lautaro Navarro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Honduras's Ivan Navarro got a free kick in the 38th minute. The audience was convinced that Edmundo Espiga's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dean Verbruggen was relentless in the 40th minute of the game. Edmundo Espiga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Dean Verbruggen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Edmundo Espiga struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Dean Verbruggen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Honduras. The audience was convinced that Edmundo Espiga's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dean Verbruggen was relentless in the 47th minute of the game. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Edmundo Espiga made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Ivan Navarro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 54 minutes in the game, Edmundo Espiga fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Dean Verbruggen having to interfere. When Gilbert Fleur fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored MVV Maastricht's protests and gave Gilbert Fleur a yellow card for diving instead. Gilbert Fleur kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. Dean Verbruggen was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Luca Espinar. When Honduras's Edmundo Espiga in the 58th minute got a chance for a shot 58th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Lautaro Navarro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maarten Colen, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. The MVV Maastricht fans' excitement grew in the 66th match minute when MVV Maastricht's Maurits Ruben looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. With a little luck, MVV Maastricht's Dean Verbruggen got control of the ball when Sebastian Villa tried to sneak it across the goal line. 72 minutes into the game, Maarten Colen was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. MVV Maastricht's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Honduras the free kick. Honduras's Alexander Costa was substituted for Luca Espinar. Maarten Colen kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. 80 minutes into the game, Alfred Oss threw the ball into play from the sideline. Honduras's Esteban Carvallo quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Esteban Carvallo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dean Verbruggen having to make a save. Gilbert Fleur received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Lautaro Navarro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ricky Mol's late challenge caught a Honduras's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ricky Mol helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to MVV Maastricht getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Ricky Mol hit a great ball. With an all-out effort, Honduras's Dean Verbruggen threw himself towards the right post 90 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Moises Tafalla, which otherwise would have been placed in the net.
