An unexpectedly hard shot by Dudu Meira in the 35th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Estrela Solitária's Sandrinho Hoffmann slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jonathan Ferrant. That made the score 1-0 after 40 minutes of play.

Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gerd Müller in the 55th minute of play. Jonathan Venegas's late challenge caught a Estrela Solitária's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jonathan Venegas helped the player get up and apologised. In a very dangerous position, a player in Venezuela fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 59th minute. Penalty! Venezuela:s Jonathan Ferrant showed great skill when he stopped Gerd Müller:s penalty. In the 66th minute, Gerd Müller left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Estrela Solitária fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Gerd Müller kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. Estrela Solitária's attentive Guilherme Peixoto managed to snatch the ball when Guillermo Mariano made a throw-in in the 73rd minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Gerd Müller managed to get in a good position for a shot. Estrela Solitária's supporters rose to their feet, but Gerd Müller was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonathan Ferrant breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 78 minutes into the match, Gerd Müller had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gerd Müller was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. Venezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomas Illescas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benjamim Dante breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Chicão Amorim made a great header on Estrela Solitária's corner, it was just that Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant managed to reach the ball for a save.
