Baybars Uğurtay's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dante Lacasa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Lars-Erik Rolandsson made a kick off. If Lautaro Mancebo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 58 minutes into the game, Mexico's Alberto Tafalla nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Genzo Wakabayashi made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Lars-Erik Rolandsson came free with the goalkeeper in the 62nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Dante Lacasa could save by the left post. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Baybars Uğurtay in the 92nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dante Lacasa saved Mexico from getting behind.
