To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Zé Carlos Vargas made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jaime Pardo in the 16th minute. Raúl Martins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jaime Pardo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Zé Carlos Vargas made a huge save. Jacobo Nores made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emerson de Alcântara in the 22nd minute of play. In the 23rd minute, Jaime Pardo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Paraguay fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Zé Carlos Vargas was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Jaime Pardo showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 26 minute of play. Jose Sanz made in the 29th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by AnÐaRaHy's Emerson de Alcântara. AnÐaRaHy's Zé Carlos Vargas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to save AnÐaRaHy from getting a goal against them. 36 minutes into the match, Paraguay's Hector Covarrubias broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. With a little luck, AnÐaRaHy's Zé Carlos Vargas got control of the ball when Jaime Pardo tried to sneak it across the goal line.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Jaime Pardo in the 85th minute of play forced AnÐaRaHy's goalkeeper Zé Carlos Vargas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
