Wellington Pires showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. After a defensive mix-up in Austra 04 VFC's zone, Lautaro Mancebo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hudson Gaúcho came out of the goal and Lautaro Mancebo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Lautaro Mancebo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hudson Gaúcho was relentless in the 11th minute of the game. Hudson Gaúcho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Facundo Cadaval in the 12th minute of play. In the 18th minute, Macos Graciani hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 19 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Sócrates Silva came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Many of Mexico's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Mexico may have spent more time on the ball, but Austra 04 VFC were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
