Club 23's Nistor Porumbescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marco van Basten in the 8th minute of play. 11 minutes into the match, Club 23's goal looked a bit too open when Erasmo de Godoi came free, but Nistor Porumbescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 14th minute of the match Jovens Democratas MZC got a corner. Club 23's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Percival Mangueira ran over to the corner to take the kick. Nistor Porumbescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Giuseppe Negri, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Giuseppe Negri fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nistor Porumbescu having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Bogdan Bogdanović's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Murillo Pinho was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Serginho Sabóia in the 27th minute of play forced Club 23's goalkeeper Nistor Porumbescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marin Ciulei hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. In the 32nd minute, Serginho Sabóia left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Jovens Democratas MZC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Jovens Democratas MZC's Murillo Pinho proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 36th minute of the match, managed to save Jovens Democratas MZC from getting a goal against them. Erasmo de Godoi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bogdan Bogdanović received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Murillo Pinho came out and tried to block the shot, but Bogdan Bogdanović slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 47th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bogdan Bogdanović to strike the kick off in the second half. During the 54th minute of the match Marin Ciulei completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Marin Ciulei a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Marin Ciulei hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Club 23's Nistor Porumbescu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Club 23 from getting a goal against them. With a little luck, Club 23's Nistor Porumbescu got control of the ball when Marco van Basten tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 60 played minutes Club 23 got a freekick which was hit by Bogdan Bogdanović. 64 minutes into the game, George Panaitescu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Murillo Pinho was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Mexhit Koçi made in the 81st minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by André Luiz Medeiros. Ilie Hodorog received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Murillo Pinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 85 minutes into the game, Augustin Tudoran was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Club 23's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Jovens Democratas MZC the free kick. In the 85th minute, Augustin Tudoran hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ilie Hodorog sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rodriguinho Vander struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Nistor Porumbescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Jovens Democratas MZC.
