When Angus Howison came up free with the goalie in the 6th minute, the Rangers FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Angus Howison couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Rangers FC getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Darius Bontine hit a great ball. When Darius Bontine fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rangers FC's protests and gave Darius Bontine a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Rangers FC's Darius Bontine got a free kick in the 11th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Paraguay's Hector Covarrubias slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Fergus Fairbairn. That made the score 1-0 after 12 minutes of play. Jaime Pardo kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. After 18 played minutes Rangers FC got a freekick which was hit by Angus Howison. Jacobo Nores showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Angus Howison in the 21st minute of the match. Jaime Pardo hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Jacobo Nores made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Danny Gilespie in the 27th minute of play. 29 minutes into the game, Jaime Pardo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Fergus Fairbairn was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Hector Covarrubias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Angus Howison had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Angus Howison fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacobo Nores having to interfere. In the 44th minute Jaime Pardo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fergus Fairbairn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jaime Pardo to make the kick off. 57 minutes into the game, Rangers FC's Angus Howison nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jacobo Nores made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. Stevie McGilvray kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. Fergus Fairbairn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jaime Pardo in the 64th minute of the match. 72 minutes into the match, Hector Covarrubias notched a goal, 5-1, to the right of Rangers FC's Fergus Fairbairn. Fergus Fairbairn was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Connor Alsop made in the 76th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Paraguay's Xavier Zoido. In the 80th minute Jaime Pardo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fergus Fairbairn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Rangers FC defense, Jaime Pardo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fergus Fairbairn. The Rangers FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fergus Fairbairn should have stopped the shot. Jaime Pardo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Fergus Fairbairn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 92nd match minute, Paraguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alan Campos to maneuver through the defense.
