After 15th play minutes Daniel Zorita shot 0-1, a short shot which went by Roman Iza and just under the crossbar into goal. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Emilio Nuno in the 22nd minute. In the 23rd minute Rio Gallegos Unidos were awarded a corner. Ubaldo Gilen went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Rio Gallegos Unidos's Ubaldo Gilen to fire away a dangerous shot which Julio Vera despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 37 minutes into the game, Felix Montenegro cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Roman Iza was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 40th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roman Iza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rio Gallegos Unidos's Roman Iza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 47th minute of play. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Daniel Zorita to strike the kick off in the second half. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Roman Iza made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Oscar Iyan in the 63rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Roman Iza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 65th minute of the match. In the 66th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Rio Gallegos Unidos's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roman Iza having to interfere. 74 minutes into the match, Rio Gallegos Unidos's Emilio Nuno sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Oscar Iyan struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rio Gallegos Unidos. The audience thought a goal was coming when Felix Montenegro got free with Roman Iza in the 80th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Rio Gallegos Unidos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benito Txurio didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 84th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. A well-hit corner resulted in Daniel Zorita heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. In the 86th minute, Luis Andino got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Roman Iza made a fantastic save in the 88th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. The corner led Ecuador's Daniel Zorita to fire away a dangerous shot which Roman Iza despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball.
