Martin Crușeveanu's late challenge caught a Peru's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. In the 18th match minute, FC Politehnica Timisoara was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Timmy Deckbergh to maneuver through the defense. After 20 minutes FC Politehnica Timisoara's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Luz Tejedor who took care of the corner kick. 24 minutes into the match, FC Politehnica Timisoara's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Isac Hojbota reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Ernest Manea made the kick off in the second half. Julian Murillo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 56th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Isac Hojbota saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Julian Murillo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Olimpiu Rizea, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. 68 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Ernest Manea came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
