After 14 played minutes Paraguay got a freekick which was hit by Ivan Prats. After recieving a nice pass, Rangers FC's Tim Charles tried to score from far away in the 15th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 22nd minute, Rangers FC's Darius Bontine seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Darius Bontine the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Rangers FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Darius Bontine had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After a defensive mix-up in Rangers FC's zone, Jaime Pardo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fergus Fairbairn came out of the goal and Jaime Pardo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 31st match minute, Rangers FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Angus Howison to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Rangers FC booed when Paraguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ivan Prats didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tim Charles took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 37th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Jacobo Nores. Paraguay's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jaime Pardo to strike the kick off in the second half. Fergus Fairbairn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hector Covarrubias, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 62 minutes into the match, Rangers FC's goal looked a bit too open when Jaime Pardo came free, but Fergus Fairbairn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 65 played minutes Rangers FC got a freekick which was hit by Tim Charles. Paraguay's Jaime Pardo got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 68 minutes into the match, Paraguay's Primitivo Escribano sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fergus Fairbairn narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 72 minutes into the game, Connor Alsop threw the ball into play from the sideline. Paraguay's Xavier Zoido quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. A collision led to Paraguay getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Ivan Prats hit a great ball. With a little luck, Paraguay's Jacobo Nores got control of the ball when Danny Gilespie tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 85 minutes of play, Paraguay's Jaime Pardo made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fergus Fairbairn was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 91st minute, Rangers FC's Danny Gilespie ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jacobo Nores. Jacobo Nores yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jaime Pardo in the 94th minute of play forced Rangers FC's goalkeeper Fergus Fairbairn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Paraguay booed when Rangers FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tim Charles didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fergus Fairbairn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jaime Pardo, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute.
