An unexpectedly hard shot by Axel Tasis in the 11th minute of play forced Real Racing Club's goalkeeper Oscar Constancio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eusebio Odol might have been able to make a better finish in the 12th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benito Sanz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eusebio Odol ran back to his position shaking his head. 14 minutes into the game, Real Racing Club's Aquiles Medina nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Benito Sanz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. After 16 minutes of play, Real Racing Club's Aquiles Medina made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benito Sanz was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Real Racing Club booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lautaro Puig didn't get a good kick on the ball. Benito Sanz went to the wrong direction when Gaudencio Lixandro was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. In the 29th match minute, Real Racing Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aquiles Medina to maneuver through the defense. Oscar Constancio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eliseo Noboa, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Costa Rica's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Axel Tasis in the 37th minute. Aquiles Medina scored 0-5 in the 38th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benito Sanz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Benito Sanz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Higinio Santiago's shot from short distance in the 42nd minute. After the first half Real Racing Club were leading 0-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Eliseo Noboa to strike the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Lautaro Puig during the 50th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Real Racing Club's Casimiro Reno was substituted for Angelo Remicio. After 52 played minutes Gaudencio Lixandro scored with a long sweeping shot just to the left of Benito Sanz who was too lazy, 0-6. Marciano Orlondon hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Aquiles Medina got free with Benito Sanz in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 65th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eliseo Noboa to maneuver through the defense. 66 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Aquiles Medina came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Nunez Larpe fell near the penalty area in the 70th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. In the 74th minute of the match Costa Rica got a corner. Real Racing Club's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Axel Tasis ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Axel Tasis almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Real Racing Club's Oscar Constancio did a great save. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when Real Racing Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. German Iraido didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Aaron Alcocer during the 83rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 92nd minute German Iraido shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Aaron Alcocer hit a great ball. Real Racing Club's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
