To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Samson Kalekye received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Lautaro Navarro came out and tried to block the shot, but Samson Kalekye slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 10th minute. 13 minutes into the game, Tony Githongo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Lautaro Navarro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Sebastian Villa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tony Githongo's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 20thth minute, Lautaro Navarro skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Amos Chepchumba fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lautaro Navarro having to interfere. Restaurante Salento's Amos Chepchumba got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edmundo Espiga in the 26th minute of play forced Restaurante Salento's goalkeeper Ngethe Mutuku to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Walter Chelanga fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Restaurante Salento's protests and gave Walter Chelanga a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Restaurante Salento's Walter Chelanga got a free kick in the 30th minute. In the 37th minute Edmundo Espiga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ngethe Mutuku saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 39th minute Samson Kalekye shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lautaro Navarro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Amos Chepchumba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Richard Israel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Samson Kalekye to strike the kick off in the second half. Esteban Carvallo charged in rather forcefully in the 51st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Esteban Carvallo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Honduras's attentive Esteban Carvallo managed to snatch the ball when Walter Chelanga made a throw-in in the 72nd minute of the game. Samson Kalekye took the ball and in the 77 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Lautaro Navarro. Lautaro Navarro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. In the 82nd minute Samson Kalekye shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lautaro Navarro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lautaro Navarro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amos Chepchumba in the 86th minute of the match. Milagros Cabal's late challenge caught a Restaurante Salento's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Milagros Cabal helped the player get up and apologised. In the 88th minute of the match Robert Kiplagat sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Lautaro Navarro skillfully saved the ball. In the 89th minute, Edmundo Espiga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 94 minutes, Sebastian Villa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Honduras's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sebastian Villa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lautaro Navarro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Samson Kalekye's shot from short distance in the 95th minute. Honduras's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
