Gyál United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Walmir Breckenfeld was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 14 played minutes Uruguay got a freekick which was hit by Camilo Covarrubias. A collision led to Uruguay getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Bruno Beldad hit a great ball. After 19 played minutes Uruguay got a freekick which was hit by Bruno Beldad. Joaquin Gayoso made an important save on a dangerous shot by Zoltán Varga in the 20th minute. Horaţiu Petran made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francisco Seco in the 21st minute of play. After 28 minutes of play, Gyál United's Walmir Breckenfeld made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gyál United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Uruguay the free kick. A collision led to Gyál United getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Konstantinos Kroustallis hit a great ball. In the 38th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gyál United's goalkeeper Horaţiu Petran, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 39 minutes had been played when some careless play by Gyál United's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Jaime Cazalla was slow to take the kick. During this time Uruguay's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Uruguay's Jaime Cazalla to fire away a dangerous shot which Horaţiu Petran despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. When Uruguay's Francisco Seco, in the 42nd minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Uruguay. Horaţiu Petran took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Francisco Seco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Francisco Seco to make the kick off. Joaquin Gayoso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Walmir Breckenfeld's shot from short distance in the 56th minute. In the 61stth minute of the game Walmir Breckenfeld who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 63rd minute Gyál United were awarded a corner. Konstantinos Kroustallis went to the cornerflag to take it. It was a well-played corner which Kenyon Lala managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. After a rather tough play, Uruguay's Maximiliano Escribano got a free kick in the 65th minute. In the 72nd minute Gyál United were awarded a corner. Konstantinos Kroustallis went to the cornerflag to take it. Zoltán Varga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Gyál United's Horaţiu Petran got control of the ball when Francisco Seco tried to sneak it across the goal line. Francisco Seco in the 77thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Horaţiu Petran, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zoltán Varga in the 98th minute of play forced Uruguay's goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Uruguay's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
