In the 13thth minute of the game Tomas Illescas who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gyál United's Sándor Jászberényi was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Patricio Costa struck a weak shot in the 15th minute. Sándor Jászberényi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. When Ferenc Baróti fell near the penalty area in the 16th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gyál United's protests and gave Ferenc Baróti a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Gyál United getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Ferenc Baróti hit a great ball. Patricio Costa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A throw-in in the 22nd minute of the game was made by Endre Bodonyi with Róbert Tamás as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. In the 24th minute, Tomas Illescas left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Venezuela fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Gyál United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. László Medgyesi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tomas Illescas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sándor Jászberényi having to make a save. 31 minutes into the match, Tomas Illescas notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Gyál United's Sándor Jászberényi. Sándor Jászberényi was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Sándor Jászberényi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patricio Costa, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. The long shot by István Juhász in the 36th minute really tested Jonathan Ferrant's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Endre Bodonyi hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. 41 minutes into the match, Gyál United's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Sándor Jászberényi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 43 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Camilo Gaos. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Róbert Vajda, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. After the first half Venezuela were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomas Illescas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In a very dangerous position, a player in Gyál United fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 51st minute. Jonathan Ferrant didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Róbert Vajda went, in the 81st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-8 was the resulting score. When the match clock showed 87 minutes, the score became 1-9 when Tomas Illescas sped through Gyál United's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Sándor Jászberényi. The Gyál United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-9. The Gyál United fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Venezuela were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
