In the 13th minute, 史建城 got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Tomas Illescas might have been able to make a better finish in the 16th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over 郝皓林. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tomas Illescas ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by 赵昆翔 in the 17th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 47th minute the ball was on its way in behind Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomas Illescas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
