In the 23rd match minute, Uruguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Franco to maneuver through the defense. Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jörn Brovall in the 24th minute of play. A hard shot 36 in the game by Karl Gallberg from a close distance when the talented Joaquin Gayoso managed to make a qualified save. Uruguay's players were relieved. After 41 minutes, Osvald Bergfelt mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lidingö and the Uruguay players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Uruguay's Bruno Beldad got a free kick in the 45th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Uruguay's zone, Karl Gallberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joaquin Gayoso came out of the goal and Karl Gallberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Francisco Seco was the one to do the kick off. When Lidingö's Karl Gallberg in the 51st minute got a chance for a shot 51st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Uruguay's goalie prevented a goal. Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gelu Cornoiu in the 53rd minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Karl Gallberg in the 55th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Joaquin Gayoso saved Uruguay from getting behind. Joaquin Gayoso didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Karl Gallberg went, in the 65th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. In the 67th minute Gelu Cornoiu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquin Gayoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Karl Gallberg in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Joaquin Gayoso saved Uruguay from getting behind. Jaime Cazalla recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Joaquin Gayoso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Karl Gallberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 88th minute Maximiliano Escribano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jan Dalgren saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 90 minutes into the game, Ingvar Matsson threw the ball into play from the sideline. Uruguay's Alberto Gisbert quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion.
