Volker Harm made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 10th minute, Mariano Lacasa ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Volker Harm was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. 12 minutes into the match, Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Pompiliu Roşculeţ came free, but Thiago Pliego reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 13th minute Orlando Casaus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Volker Harm saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mariano Lacasa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Volker Harm tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpected shot in the 17th minute by Laurențiu Cinteză got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 26th minute Guillermo Fontirroig shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Volker Harm saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 27th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Hamburg's goalkeeper Volker Harm, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Mariano Lacasa scored 0-3 in the 29th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Volker Harm, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. A collision led to FC Hamburg getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Frank Groth hit a great ball. Thoralf Blohm made in the 35th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Chile's Pedro Indiano. If Guillermo Fontirroig had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 40 played minutes Chile got a freekick which was hit by Pedro Indiano. In the 41st minute, Pompiliu Roşculeţ got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 43rd match minute, Chile was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedro Indiano to maneuver through the defense. Volker Harm made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mariano Lacasa in the 46th minute of play. In the 47th minute of the match Chile got a corner. FC Hamburg's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Mariano Lacasa ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Chile's Mariano Lacasa to fire away a dangerous shot which Volker Harm despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball.

In the 53rd minute, Frank Groth hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thiago Pliego made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Laurențiu Cinteză in the 55th minute of play. A collision led to FC Hamburg getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Thoralf Blohm hit a great ball. 59 minutes into the match, Chile's Mariano Lacasa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Volker Harm narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Chile's Thiago Pliego played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Markus Heimrath in the 60th minute of play. 64 minutes into the match, Mariano Lacasa dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Volker Harm, 0-4. Mariano Lacasa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 68th minute of the match, but Volker Harm made a huge save. Thiago Pliego made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pompiliu Roşculeţ in the 71st minute of play. Volker Harm made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 73rd minute. FC Hamburg's Ilkay Gündoğan was substituted for Markus Heimrath. After 74 played minutes FC Hamburg got a freekick which was hit by Pompiliu Roşculeţ. With a little luck, FC Hamburg's Volker Harm got control of the ball when Mariano Lacasa tried to sneak it across the goal line. 79 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC Hamburg's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Mariano Lacasa was slow to take the kick. During this time Chile's players had a chance to rest. A well done corner resulted in Orlando Casaus drilling the ball in to score 0-5 behind FC Hamburg's goalkeeper. Volker Harm made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Mariano Lacasa sent off a good shot on target. Mariano Lacasa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Volker Harm made a huge save. After 93 played minutes Mariano Lacasa rounded FC Hamburg's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 0-6.
