The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Lautaro Mancebos short, quick shot in the 32ndth minute got Jairo Castellano to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 34 minutes into the match, Facundo Cadaval had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jairo Castellano. Club Getafe Deportivo's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Facundo Cadaval was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Jairo Castellano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Gaona in the 36th minute of the match. 36 minutes into the game, Mexico's Joel Gaona nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jairo Castellano made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. In the 39th minute, Felix Luque hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Lautaro Mancebo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Lautaro Mancebo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jairo Castellano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.
