Ecuador were furious when Felix Montes was red carded, 11 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 11th minute of the game. One of Ecuador:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Foot Ball Club di Roma:s goal. In the 13th minute there was a penalty for Foot Ball Club di Roma. Biagio Pallini stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Julio Vera. 0-1. Ettore Scarcella kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. In the 21st minute of the match, Luis Andino tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Alvaro Pardini saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 22 minutes had been played when some careless play by Foot Ball Club di Roma's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. 27 minutes in the game Camilo Gisbert did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Daniel Zorita. In the 29th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alvaro Pardini saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Foot Ball Club di Roma was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Armando Ceresoli didn't get a good kick on the ball. 40 minutes into the game, Foot Ball Club di Roma's Biagio Pallini nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. 46 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Armando Ceresoli came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Armando Ceresoli to strike the kick off in the second half. If Luis Andino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Biagio Pallini in the 64th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Foot Ball Club di Roma's Biagio Scoca was substituted for Biagio Pallini. Armando Ceresoli received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 73rd minute of play forced Foot Ball Club di Roma's goalkeeper Alvaro Pardini to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The corner first didn't look so dangerous but when Felix Montenegro got the ball he succeeded in some way to get through the defenders to deliver a very hard score. Result 1-2. 75 minutes into the match. Aldo Pesce kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. Daniel Zorita blasted a shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alvaro Pardini having to make a save. 84 minutes into the match, Foot Ball Club di Roma's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Alvaro Pardini reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A sloppy throw-in by Primitivo Andino in the 85th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Foot Ball Club di Roma's Aldo Pesce. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Biagio Scoca stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Biagio Scoca tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Foot Ball Club di Roma's Aldo Pesce got a free kick in the 95th minute. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Ecuador lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
