Spectators: 45 (Terracing: 35, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Moises Fernandino started the match with the kick off. With a little luck, Rangers FC's Fergus Fairbairn got control of the ball when Moises Fernandino tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 21st minute El Salvador were awarded a corner. Mateo Leguizamo went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led El Salvador's Mateo Leguizamo to fire away a dangerous shot which Fergus Fairbairn despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Moises Fernandino could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 22nd minute of the match, but Fergus Fairbairn made a huge save. Fergus Fairbairn made an important save on a dangerous shot by Moises Fernandino in the 26th minute. In the 30th match minute, El Salvador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Valentino Ferrant to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the El Salvador defense, Danny Gilespie kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ricardo Zorita. The El Salvador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ricardo Zorita should have stopped the shot. Luis Rubio kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Danny Gilespie in the 38th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ricardo Zorita saved El Salvador from getting behind. Fergus Fairbairn made an important save on a dangerous shot by Moises Fernandino in the 43rd minute. Ricardo Zorita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Angus Howison, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half Rangers FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Danny Gilespie to make the kick off. Tim Charles kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. In the 60th minute, Rangers FC's Darius Bontine seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Darius Bontine the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Rangers FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Darius Bontine had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 60th minute, one of Rangers FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Rangers FC. In the 63rd minute there was a penalty for El Salvador. Mateo Leguizamo stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Fergus Fairbairn. 1-1. In the 68th minute Moises Fernandino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fergus Fairbairn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 74 minutes into the match, Rangers FC's goal looked a bit too open when Abram Luque came free, but Fergus Fairbairn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 75th minute Abram Luque shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fergus Fairbairn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 78 minutes, Abram Luque mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the El Salvador and the Rangers FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Abram Luque kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. Ricardo Zorita made an important save on a dangerous shot by Danny Gilespie in the 79th minute. Fergus Fairbairn was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Fergus Fairbairn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Moises Fernandino in the 91st minute of play. With a little luck, El Salvador's Ricardo Zorita got control of the ball when Danny Gilespie tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ron McLeish made in the 95th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by El Salvador's Luis Rubio. El Salvador's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
