The supporters of Avellaneda FC booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felix Montenegro didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Edgardo Silvanito fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Avellaneda FC's protests and gave Edgardo Silvanito a yellow card for diving instead. In the 11th match minute, Avellaneda FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edgardo Silvanito to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Alessandro López in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Alessandro López was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Daniel Zorita showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 17 minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 23rd minute of play forced Avellaneda FC's goalkeeper Alessandro López to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. In the 57th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alessandro López saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pablo Václavek kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. 64 minutes into the match, Avellaneda FC's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Alessandro López reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Felix Montenegro in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Alessandro López saved Avellaneda FC from getting behind. After 68 played minutes Avellaneda FC got a freekick which was hit by Iker Ekhi. Daniel Zorita took the ball and in the 69 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Alessandro López. Alessandro López dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. When the match had gone on for 72 minutes, Daniel Zorita put it in 5-0 from a short distance just to the right of Alessandro López. Alessandro López made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 75th minute of play. In the 83rd minute, Paulo José Lira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Daniel Zorita took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 84th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Alessandro López. Avellaneda FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Rickard Ahlkvist kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. Alessandro López took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agustín Saelices, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 88th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daniel Zorita to maneuver through the defense. In the 93rd match minute, Avellaneda FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Paulo José Lira to maneuver through the defense. In the 94th minute of the match Daniel Zorita sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alessandro López skillfully saved the ball. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Alessandro López read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play. Ecuador walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
