Rodrigo Massó was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 30 minutes into the match, PLUMIN's goal looked a bit too open when Felix Montenegro came free, but Rodrigo Massó reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 31th minute after PLUMIN's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. Antonio Arias's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rodrigo Massó read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 33rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 34th minute of play forced PLUMIN's goalkeeper Rodrigo Massó to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Simon Ferrer sent off a good shot on target. But to his dismay, Cirilo Salvino quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. Antonio Orlan charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Antonio Orlan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 45th minute, Antonio Orlan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 46th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rodrigo Massó saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 47th minute. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cirilo Salvino stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Albeiro Usuriaga replaced Simon Ferrer. In the 71st minute, Agustín Saelices hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cirilo Salvino in the 72nd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Rodrigo Massó in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in PLUMIN's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rodrigo Massó came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head.
