In the 15th match minute, FC Barcelona was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gavin Giacomozzi to maneuver through the defense. In the 17th minute, Mario Vinciguerra hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Abraham Alguacil was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 17th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. After some careless play in the Panama defense, Gavin Giacomozzi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marcos Cotilla. The Panama fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcos Cotilla should have stopped the shot. Marcos Cotilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elroy Kolb in the 25th minute of play. Vitório Goiano made a fantastic save in the 26th minute, when Abraham Alguacil sent off a good shot on target. 29 minutes into the match, FC Barcelona's goal looked a bit too open when Isidoro Sarmiento came free, but Vitório Goiano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Severino de Godoi came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the FC Barcelona fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Severino de Godoi couldn't finish the play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.
After a rather tough play, FC Barcelona's Mario Vinciguerra got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Abraham Alguacil's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vitório Goiano read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 54th minute of play. After 81 played minutes FC Barcelona got a freekick which was hit by Berthold Wy. FC Barcelona's Carlos Laderoute was substituted for Elroy Kolb. Abraham Alguacil made a great header on Panama's corner, it was just that FC Barcelona's Vitório Goiano managed to reach the ball for a save. Vitório Goiano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abraham Alguacil, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. FC Barcelona's Vitório Goiano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Berganza in the 94th minute of play. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Panama fully deserved thier win.
