Francisco Seco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Fernando Mota tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Joaquin Gayoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Robinho Moreira, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. Fernando Mota took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maximiliano Escribano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 16 played minutes Uruguay got a freekick which was hit by Alberto Gisbert. In the 17th minute Robinho Moreira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquin Gayoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Terreiro's Waldemar de Lara got a free kick in the 18th minute. 20 minutes into the match, Terreiro's goalkeeper Fernando Mota had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Francisco Seco. Uruguay's supporters rose to their feet, but Alberto Gisbert was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
